Occupational therapy for pelvic floor dysfunction addresses a range of disorders from a holistic, environmental, and self-care perspective.
Therapy is appropriate for the any of the following conditions:
- pelvic pain
- incontinence (urinary or bowel)
- painful sex
- birth injuries
- prolapse (cystocele and rectocele)
- diastasis recti
- pubic symphysis dysfunction/pain
- SI pain
- pain following gender confirmation surgery
Therapy is externally based and focuses on correcting orthopedic misalignments as well as altering habits or environmental stressors that may be causing or exaggerating a person's condition.
